Deadly Sin / Heavenly Virtue Patterns

Deadly Sin / Heavenly Virtue Patterns
This was a project for my Computer Graphics II class. We had to create two patterns based on one of the seven deadly sins and their respective heavenly virtue. The sin and virtue had to be represented through either representational or non-representational imagery. For my project, I focused on the deadly sin lust and heavenly virtue chastity, representing them through a stylized rose and lily respectively.
When we finished designing our patterns, we were required to utilize one of them in a mockup. I had originally only done the one required mockup for this project. However, I recently went back and utilized the other design for a different mockup so that I could showcase the intended utilizations for both patterns for my portfolio.
The intended communication goal of the project was to portray broader concepts like the deadly sins and heavenly virtues through simple iconography. When I chose to represent lust and chastity, I took inspiration from typical Valentine's Day aesthetics for my patterns. The flowers and colors chosen are tied close to the holiday, so I imagined my intended audience being people who are specifically looking for Valentine's Day wrapping paper or gift bags to give to their loved ones. This direction also influenced the mockups I chose.
